An Intimate Evening with Keith Emerson and Greg Lake featuring the music of Emerson Lake and Palmer, King Crimson and the Nice

April 28, 7:00 PM

Pikes Peak Center

Tickets go on sale to the public Friday, March 12 at 10:00 AM.

The Pikes Peak Center is proud to welcome Keith Emerson and Greg Lake in concert at the Pikes Peak Center April 28, 2010. Doors for this concert will open at 6:00 PM with the concert starting at 7:00 PM.

An Intimate Evening with Keith Emerson and Greg Lake featuring the music of Emerson Lake and Palmer, King Crimson and the Nice starts its run April 1 in Cleveland and the two-thirds of the English progressive rock trio will celebrate the 40th anniversary of the band in July. Emerson, Lake and Palmer are known for such 70’s rock hits as "Lucky Man," "From The Beginning," "Karn Evil 9: 1st Impression - Part 2" and "I Believe In Father Christmas.”The two-man show with keyboard legend Keith Emerson and the famed voice and guitars of Greg Lake is an intimate "unplugged" prelude to the highly anticipated reunion of Emerson Lake and Palmer at the High Voltage Festival in July, 2010 in the UK. It is unlike any show either of the two have performed before.

The fabric of the show is the iconic music composed by Emerson and Lake throughout their careers and audiences can expect new perspectives as well as new arrangements of classic favorites as Keith and Greg relate the stories of their songs and discuss the compositions and people that influenced the celebrated music the two created with the progressive rock bands that went down in history as the super groups that began a rock and roll era: King Crimson, the Nice, and Emerson, Lake and Palmer. The show is completely new – the two have never performed together in this personal setting and audiences will be treated to an emotional perspective and a rare and personal insight into the music they love during an evening they won't forget, in an intimate theatrical setting far different from the theatrics of Emerson Lake and Palmer.

Tickets go on sale to the public Friday, March 12 at 10:00 AM.

Tickets are $45.00 and $35.00 (surcharges apply). All ages are welcome to this show.

Tickets can be purchased at all front-range King Soopers, the Citadel Mall guest services desk, by phone at 719-520-SHOW, 866-464-2626 or online at www.pikespeakcenter.com.

Special Guests Julianne Hough & Danny Gokey

At the World Arena in Colorado Springs

Saturday, May 8, 2010

Tickets go on Sale Friday, February 12th at 10 am!

NASHVILLE TN –International country super-duo Sugarland will kick off their 2010 North American tour, The Incredible Machine  April 23rd in Primm, NV and travel to over 55 cities nationwide.

“This new tour is a thrill for me,” said Jennifer Nettles. “It will reflect our latest writing and surprises to come for the new record, the hits that our fans love, along with the production value that people have come to trust and expect from our live shows.” “Don't come if you expect to sit on your ass the whole show. You won't be able to. It's a whole, new, rhythmic, emotional, visual, fun, incredible, experience machine.”

Jennifer Nettles and Kristian Bush make up country duo Sugarland who’ve sold over 8 million records since exploding onto the music scene in ‘04 with Twice The Speed Of Life (“Baby Girl”/“Something More”). Enjoy the Ride (“Want To”/“Settlin’”/“Stay”) quickly followed in ’06 and their third studio album Love On The Inside (“It Happens”/“Love”/“All I Want To Do”/“Already Gone”) in July ’08, which skyrocketed them to superstardom, drawing fans from all genres and critics abroad. Sugarland is credited with co-writing all tracks from all three albums and co-producing the last two. As a thank you to their loyal fans, in Aug. ’09 the duo released Live On The Inside, a CD/DVD set of live tracks, covers and footage from their tour. They’ve performed in six European countries and headlined a U.S. tour throughout ’09. They’ve received trophies from the Grammys, American Music Awards, Academy of Country Music, CMT Music Awards and the Country Music Association. Nettles was recently chosen to perform for the Obama Presidential celebration, as well as the duo for Oprah.  In August, ABC aired an hour-long network special featuring the duo in their most beloved setting...on stage. Their latest album Gold And Green, a 10-track holiday collection consisting of half standards and half originals, all of which Nettles and Bush co-wrote and co-produced was a Christmas sensation.  Most recently, the duo received a nomination for “Best Country Performance By A Duo Or Group With Vocals” for #1 smash hit “It Happens” at the 2010 Grammy Awards.

ABOUT MIKE MELTON (6:00 PM): Mike Melton received his first guitar as a Christmas present when he was 8-years-old.  Shortly thereafter he began guitar lessons with John McDaniel of Graner Music – who now tours with Zoso, the premier Led Zeppelin tribute band in the country, in the role of Jimmy Page.  Through these early lessons Mike gained a strong love for the instrument – it was not uncommon for him to play his guitar 4 or 5 hours straight.  At age 14 he began studying classical guitar with Wayne Hammerstadt.

Melton enjoys playing improvisational jazz at the Acid Jazz Jam in Manitou Springs with such well known musicians as Kim Stone (bassist for The Rippingtons) and Mike Reese.  Melton has also performed classical guitar at UCCS, as well as playing with an improvisational jazz group.  Currently he performs classical guitar at the R & R Coffee Café in Black Forest.

A 2007 graduate of Lewis-Palmer High School, Monument,Colo., Melton currently attends UCCS with a major in psychology and a minor in music.

ABOUT PHIL VOLAN & JOLEEN BELL (7:15 PM): Phil Volan and Joleen Bell  play beautifully crafted original compositions and covers for mainly finger style guitar and vocals.  The duo began in 2003 with a mutual love of acoustic music and share a rich musical past.  The Black Rose Newsletter's reviewer Stew Levitt describes Phil and Joleen's playing on they're instrumental CD of duets:  "Starting with the opening harmonics of “Carousel,” each guitar teases, withdraws and pursues each other like two children on an afternoon outing. This is acoustic guitar at its best."   In 2002, Phil earned 2nd place at the prestigious National Fingerstyle Guitar Championship in Winfield, Kan.  Phil and Joleen are widely versatile and perform at concerts, conventions, festivals, churches, restaurants, and the always-loved house concert.
