JOB TITLE:                  Guest Services - Part Time (Ushers, Ticket Takers, Door Guards, Security)

REPORTS TO:              Director of Event Services

JOB SUMMARY:  This position has a key role in creating an enjoyable and safe experience for all guests and clients attending public or private functions at the World Arena, Pikes Peak Center and World Arena Ice Hall.  Responsibilities include taking tickets, assisting guests with seating/directions/information, communication with team members, safety awareness and providing security services for a variety of events at all of our venues. Other responsibilities include assisting  in chair and trash removal for certain events. Most events are evenings and weekends, however, we also offer some weekday events. Shift times vary and are usually three to six hours in length. 

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

   Ushers

·         Assist patrons in finding their seats.

·         Monitors his/her section for unusual behavior or guests in need of assistance.

·         Provides general building knowledge.

·         Enforces building policies, no smoking, standing on seats, etc.

·         Enforces safety procedures, keeping aisles clear, and controlling traffic flow.

·         Assists in building emergency procedures.

·         Clear Arena of patrons after an event.

·         Other duties as assigned.

   Ticket Takers

·         Greets guests, checks their tickets and directs to their section.

·         Verifies ticket is for the correct event, date, and performance.

·         Knowledge of ticket system for each event, including special passes or credentials.

·         Keep lines of patrons moving as quickly and safely as possible.

·         Visually inspect guests for bottles, cans or any other item not permitted in the facility.

·         Other duties as assigned.

   Door Guard

·         Provide security and maintain surveillance of doorways, entrances, exits or other areas assigned.

·         Direct guests to proper entrances and deny entrance through secured doorways and areas.

·         Assist Ticket Takers with screening for cameras/video equipment and/or any other items not permitted in the venue.

·         Prevent entrance or exit to the venue through emergency exit doors.

·         Clear venue of patrons after events

·         Other duties as assigned.

   Security

·         Provides security for the backstage area, including locker or dressing rooms.

·         Secure barricade, mix position, and front/side/back of house.

·         Assist management staff and uniformed security with crowd management.

·         Assist ushers in keeping aisles and traffic areas clear from congestion.

·         Clear venue of patrons after events.

·         Other duties as assigned.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

·         Ability to stand and/or sit for long periods of time.

·         Ability to maneuver throughout the venue including walking and climbing up and down stairs.

·         Reaching, grasping (Ticket Takers, Ushers)

·         Ability to occasionally bend, stoop, grasp for chair and trash removal.

·         Other duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and ABILITIES:

·         Self-motivated, reliable, and positive attitude.

·         Must be able to pass online Crowd Management course.

·         Ability to work a varied schedule to include days, nights, weekends, and holidays based on event schedule.

·         Ability to understand and follow directions.

·         Ability to communicate information and direct patrons in a professional manner.

·         Knowledge of safety policies and procedures.


TITLE: Ice Operations Crew Member – Full-time

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS: Reports to: Ice Operations Manager

SUMMARY: This position is responsible for the maintenance and operation of the Zamboni ice re-surfacers and the three ice sheets in the Arena and Ice Hall. Additionally, this employee performs an array of other jobs ranging from customer service to building maintenance and repair. The employee will often open and close the Ice Hall and World Arena as well as oversee aspects of the building automation systems and ice plant systems. This position supervises Part Time Ice Operation employees.

SPECIFIC JOB DUTIES, but are not limited to the following:
• Positively represent the World Arena and Ice Hall to visitors, users and co-workers; act as Manager on Duty when he/she is the only Full Time Ice Operations staff member on duty. • Service the needs of customers, ice tenants and skating coaches.
• Enforce building safety policies/procedures.
• Daily maintenance for up to three sheets of ice to maintain the requisite ice thickness and levelness (dry and cross-cutting, figure 8 cuts, spot flooding, hose flooding; edging, chipping boards and “slushing” holes).
• Take daily, weekly, and event readings and complete/update ODC and CFC logs. • Provide an environment that is safe, clean and enjoyable.
• Maintain and operate the Zamboni ice resurfacers and ice edging equipment, including regular knife changing.
• Prepare the ice for events including changeovers (from dry-floor to ice)
• Pro-actively manage facility equipment to maximize utility conservation.
• Protect/maintain facility equipment such as: sound systems, fireplace.
• Perform general building maintenance and repairs tasks as assigned.
• Assign locker rooms and distributing keys to hockey users.
• Operate and program parameter and scheduling set points for the HVAC automation system.
• Operate Arena and Ice Hall compressors, and maintain operating logs.
• Open and close Ice Hall and Arena.
• Installation and removal of ice to include painting base-coat, ice logos as well as hose floods to meet game or event ice requirements. Repair ice markings and logos as needed.
• Replace hockey glass, perform routine maintenance of dasher board systems and puck control netting as needed.
• Respond to building mechanical and burglar alarms from ADT dispatch as needed.
• All aspects of snow removal and de-icing of grounds including but not limited to: plowing, shoveling, ice melt application.
• Maintain clean and safe working areas with special attention to mechanical areas, Zamboni access areas and public space.
• Perform periodic and seasonal maintenance on hockey goals and netting.
• Install & remove tenant ad panels on Zamboni for hockey game nights.
• Document guest accidents per prescribed protocol.
• Ability to lift 100 lbs and work in cold conditions both inside and outside is required.
• Make suggestions on how to upgrade operational procedures to improve customer service, employee morale and general efficiency.
• Performs all other duties as assigned by supervisor.

ACCOUNTABILITIES: Monitor and control all aspects of keeping and maintaining high quality ice and the requisite duties necessary to maintain such conditions. Maintain a high level of customer service at all times. Ability to supervise part-time staff as needed on assigned shifts.
