DATE:                          July 15, 2014

JOB TITLE:                  Guest Services - Part Time (Ushers, Ticket Takers, Door Guards, Security)

REPORTS TO:              Director of Event Services

JOB SUMMARY:  This position has a key role in creating an enjoyable and safe experience for all guests and clients attending public or private functions at the World Arena, Pikes Peak Center and World Arena Ice Hall.  Responsibilities include taking tickets, assisting guests with seating/directions/information, communication with team members, safety awareness and providing security services for a variety of events at all of our venues. Other responsibilities include assisting  in chair and trash removal for certain events. Most events are evenings and weekends, however, we also offer some weekday events. Shift times vary and are usually three to six hours in length. 

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

   Ushers

·         Assist patrons in finding their seats.

·         Monitors his/her section for unusual behavior or guests in need of assistance.

·         Provides general building knowledge.

·         Enforces building policies, no smoking, standing on seats, etc.

·         Enforces safety procedures, keeping aisles clear, and controlling traffic flow.

·         Assists in building emergency procedures.

·         Clear Arena of patrons after an event.

·         Other duties as assigned.

   Ticket Takers

·         Greets guests, checks their tickets and directs to their section.

·         Verifies ticket is for the correct event, date, and performance.

·         Knowledge of ticket system for each event, including special passes or credentials.

·         Keep lines of patrons moving as quickly and safely as possible.

·         Visually inspect guests for bottles, cans or any other item not permitted in the facility.

·         Other duties as assigned.

   Door Guard

·         Provide security and maintain surveillance of doorways, entrances, exits or other areas assigned.

·         Direct guests to proper entrances and deny entrance through secured doorways and areas.

·         Assist Ticket Takers with screening for cameras/video equipment and/or any other items not permitted in the venue.

·         Prevent entrance or exit to the venue through emergency exit doors.

·         Clear venue of patrons after events

·         Other duties as assigned.

   Security

·         Provides security for the backstage area, including locker or dressing rooms.

·         Secure barricade, mix position, and front/side/back of house.

·         Assist management staff and uniformed security with crowd management.

·         Assist ushers in keeping aisles and traffic areas clear from congestion.

·         Clear venue of patrons after events.

·         Other duties as assigned.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

·         Ability to stand and/or sit for long periods of time.

·         Ability to maneuver throughout the venue including walking and climbing up and down stairs.

·         Reaching, grasping (Ticket Takers, Ushers)

·         Ability to occasionally bend, stoop, grasp for chair and trash removal.

·         Other duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and ABILITIES:

·         Self-motivated, reliable, and positive attitude.

·         Must be able to pass online Crowd Management course.

·         Ability to work a varied schedule to include days, nights, weekends, and holidays based on event schedule.

·         Ability to understand and follow directions.

·         Ability to communicate information and direct patrons in a professional manner.

·         Knowledge of safety policies and procedures.


TITLE:  Part Time Housekeeper

REPORTS TO:  Housekeeping Supervisor

FACILITY:  Colorado Springs World Arena, Ice Hall and Pikes Peak Center

DEFINITION: Under general supervision, cleans assigned areas, stocks all supplies needed for assigned area; and performs related duties as required.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:

  1. Sweeps, scrubs, and mops floors; vacuums, spot cleans, high dust and low dusting.
  2. Cleans walls, windows, mirrors, pictures, mini-blinds, bookcases, computer screens, and water fountains; washes, dusts, and polishes furniture, woodwork, shelves, and metal work; cleans rest rooms and replenishes rest room supplies; and collects and empties waste receptacles.
  3. Notifies supervisor of minor building maintenance repairs, including replacing light bulbs; repair to office furniture; and refers work requiring major maintenance or repair to appropriate sources.
  4. Performs job in a safe manner using proper body mechanics. Responsible for the proper care of all equipment, supplies and financial assets involved in the performance of the job.
  5. Additional duties may be outlined by facility. Duties and responsibilities may be added, deleted, or changed at any time at the discretion of the management.

EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS:
Some commercial cleaning experience; or, equivalent combination of training, education, and related experience that would provide the required knowledge and abilities. Possession of valid Colorado Driver’s License is required along with dependable transportation to and from work.

Knowledge of: Current cleaning methods, equipment, cleaning solutions, mops, buckets, body mechanics, wet and dry vacuum cleaners, ladders, cleaning and maintenance safety practices, Right to Know SDS sheets and OSHA practices.

Ability to: prepare cleaning materials and solutions, including choosing proper tools and cleaning agents; work in contact with strong cleaning and disinfecting solutions; add and subtract small numbers; speak English sufficiently to communicate with supervisor and fellow employees; understand and follow oral and written directions in English; read signs, labels, work schedules, and instructions; follow safety precautions and procedures; plan and complete assigned duties within allotted time frames; and work independently and well with others.

SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION:

Many of the essential functions of this position are characterized by demanding physical work requiring such physical activities as standing, pushing, pulling, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and reaching. Moving, handling, and transporting heavy furniture and equipment are also required.   Applicant will be required to work evenings, weekends and holidays.


BROADMOOR WORLD ARENA
PART TIME CHANGEOVER CREW MEMBER

SUMMARY:  This part time position is responsible for converting the arena from one event set-up to another on an as needed basis.  This position is very physical and requires long periods of standing and walking.  Employee must be able to work a varied schedule (weekdays, weekends, and holidays); mainly late nights.
Rate:     $12.00 per hour 
Hours:  Part time hours vary based on business need for changeover

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Perform event set-ups and facility conversions
  • Perform routine maintenance assignments
  • Maintain all areas of the arena in safe and clean condition
  • Remove and install hockey glass
  • Assist in building stages and setting chairs for events
  • Install ice deck and/or flooring

PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to:

  • Have full range of mobility in upper and lower body
  • Be able to reach overhead
  • Be able to lift, pull, push, stoop and carry
  • Be able to lift 50 pounds of weight throughout assigned workday
  • Dependable – the individual is consistently at work and on time, follows instructions, and commits to long hours of work when necessary to reach goals.
  • Reliable means of transportation

WORK ENVIRONMENT:  While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly subject to frequent stair climbing, walking on ice/wet surfaces, and heights.
